Make the Most of February Key Dates

February: the runt of the calendar. Twenty-eight days (or twenty-nine if you're lucky), miserable weather, and everyone's still skint from Christmas. But it's a goldmine for content if you know where to look.

We're not about to tell you to post a heart on Valentine's Day and call it a strategy. You're better than that. And so are your customers.

Here are the February hooks we actually rate, and how to use them without looking desperate.

Valentine's Day (14 Feb)

Yes, the obvious one. But flip it. "Galentine's", anti-Valentine's, self-love, pet-love. The contrarian angle nearly always outperforms the heart-shaped biscuit post.

  • B2B angle: "Things we love about our clients" - a cheeky round-up, genuine and a bit soppy.
  • Local angle: Best Newcastle date-night spots, if you're a lifestyle brand.
  • Data angle: Survey your audience on something silly. Posts with numbers get shared.

Pancake Day (4 March this year but prep now)

Start teasing late Feb. Behind-the-scenes, team-favourite recipes, daft toppings polls. It's low effort, high engagement.

Random Holidays Worth a Post

Safer Internet Day (11 Feb) is brilliant for anyone in tech, web or security. World Radio Day (13 Feb), National Tea Day throughout the month in various forms, and Shrove Tuesday if you haven't covered it already.

Half-Term (mid Feb)

Parents are knackered and scrolling. If your product helps busy families, now's the time. Short videos, practical tips, no faff.

Six Nations Kicks Off

Gold for hospitality, retail, any brand with a bit of regional pride. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, Italy - pick your battles.

The Month's Mood

February is grey. Lean into cosy, warm, indoor, comforting. Don't pretend it's spring. Your audience will thank you for the honesty.

Planning It Properly

Pick four dates for the month. Two commercial, two community. Plan the content two weeks out. Post it, measure it, move on. That's it. We go into more depth on our strategy audits, but honestly, the rule of four gets you 80% there.

Closing

February isn't a dead month. It's a short month. There's a difference. Pick your hooks, bring your personality, and don't let anyone catch you posting a stock photo of roses. We'll know.
